Remember the feeling of coloring as a child with your tongue sticking out as you tried to stay within the lines?  Give that feeling of comfort back to your students.

 

 

Why color pencils?

Students remember more when they see it in color.  If your students are working on a graphic organizer, have them color it.  If the handout you gave them is on white paper, have them color it up with designs along the sides.  Color pencils are cheap and last a long time.  If your students cannot afford them, ask you department chair to purchase them for you out of the school budget.  Have a box set aside for the pencils to be shared by table.
